Position Summary:
The Head Start Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with Head Start performance standards within area of specialization; Services for Children with Disabilities, Early Childhood Development, Child Mental Health Services, Family and Community Partnerships, ERSEA, Disability and any other contractual obligations. The position reports to the Program Director and operates under general supervision with wide latitude for the use of independent judgment, discretion and initiative.
Essential Job Duties for all Areas of Specialization:
- Oversee and ensure compliance within area of specialization includes but not limited to developing systems and processes, analyzing information, conducting training, providing consultation, mentoring, maintain databases, and monitoring compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate and participate in School Readiness Reviews (SRR).
- Plan, develop and deliver training for staff and parents within area of specialization.
- Monitor and provide oversight and guidance when necessary in the interpretation and implementation of content areas.
- Perform management and administrative functions to ensure delivery of program objectives and requirements within area of specialization.
- Work with community partners and others to develop initiatives that promote positive community relations.
- Monitor, interpret and implement Head Start rules and regulations within area of specialty.
- Ensures that the performance standards and the procedures are followed within area of specialization.
- Monitor and review collaborative partnerships to ensure delivery of services.
- Attend meetings and provide reports to the Board of Directors, Policy Council or special committees as requested by the Head Start Director.
- Travel between sites to complete work, attend meetings and professional development seminars.
- Serve as WBCO/Head Start representative on committees, boards, community groups and businesses.
- Develop policies and procedures for content area
- Attend Behavioral Management meetings with Comprehensive Services Support Specialist and teachers
- Write behavior plans for ASQ-SE
- Responsible for referral documentation for children/families with developmental concerns
- Ensure safety is apriority in performing all job responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with ADA and IDEA regulations.
- Assure 10% of enrollment of children with disabilities into the Head Start program.
- Coordinate and participate in Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
- Monitor and Review collaborative partnerships to ensure delivery of services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health or related field.
Current state license as a Mental Health Professional (must be current during employment).
Experience:
Fours (4) years of related professional experience in the social services or related.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Obtain and keep current adult and pediatric CPR and first aid certifications.

F Bending/Twisting – to reach files, reports, handle paper, reach drawers
F Grasping/Holding-holding binders, phones, tablet, work resources
F Balancing – standing, reaching, driving
F Lifting/Carrying-report binders, paper, laptop, supplies up to 45 lbs.
F Vision-to drive and assist individuals in medical need
F Pushing/Pulling – open/close file/copier drawers, open & close doors, rolltop carriers
F Foot Controls – driving
F Driving –scheduled & unscheduled trips to and from meetings and sites

F Reaching-to answer phone, reach files, reports, plug in laptop
Working Conditions:
- Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
- Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays may be required.
